GLOBAL GNH FORUM

About the Global GNH Forum

Rooted in Bhutan’s timeless commitment to holistic development, the GNH Centre Bhutan envisions a world where happiness, well-being, and sustainability are at the heart of human progress. Guided by the philosophy of Gross National Happiness (GNH), the Centre creates spaces of reflection, learning, and action where nature, culture, and spirituality blend to inspire a more compassionate and equitable world.

The Global GNH Forum is a natural extension of this vision, a high-level international gathering that brings together thinkers, leaders, and changemakers to reimagine development beyond GDP. It offers a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and co-creation around a new global narrative: one where happiness is not a by-product of material growth, but the core purpose of governance, business, and society. In celebration of His Majesty the Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck’s 70th Birth Anniversary, the GNH Centre Bhutan is honored to launch the Global GNH Forum as an annual event of international importance.

This day holds deep significance not only for the people of Bhutan but also for the world, as His Majesty stands as a symbol of visionary leadership, environmental stewardship, and people-centred development. The Forum pays tribute to His Majesty’s enduring legacy by creating a platform that extends Bhutan’s gift of GNH to the world a tribute to wisdom, ethics, and balance at a time when such leadership is most needed.

The Global GNH Forum 2026 aims to bring together leaders and thinkers to explore how ancient and traditional wisdom can guide new approaches to development in a rapidly changing world.

We are living in an age of accelerated development. Artificial intelligence is reshaping decision-making. Biotechnology is redefining life itself. Digital platforms are reorganising economies, identities, and relationships. Our technological power has grown exponentially. At the same time, climate uncertainty and social transformation are reshaping contemporary practices—from regenerative tourism and wellbeing economies to sustainable governance models.

Yet a quiet question follows this expansion: Has our wisdom grown at the same pace?
